Samuel Johnson

Samuel Johnson (18 septembre 1709 - 13 décembre 1784) est l'un des principaux auteurs de la littérature anglaise. Poète, essayiste, biographe, lexicographe, traducteur, pamphlétaire, journaliste, éditeur, polygraphe, il est aussi un critique littéraire des plus réputés.

Il met ses mots hors de l'ordre commun, apparemment en pensent, a l'égal de quelques candidats à la gloire venus plus tard, que ne pas écrire en prose, c'est certes le même qu'écrire de la poesie .
